South Australia is in for a scorcher today, with temperatures set to soar to 44°C—the hottest it’s been in nearly five years! And it’s not just the heat causing concern—extreme fire danger warnings have been issued for multiple regions.
How Hot Will It Get?
Adelaide could see its hottest day since December 2019, with forecasts predicting a high of 43-44°C. Meanwhile, the rest of the state will be sweltering under “very hot” conditions before a cool change finally sweeps through later tonight.
The heatwave warning remains in place, and a low-pressure system is expected to move in, bringing some relief with a cooler 27°C tomorrow—a much-needed break from the intense heat.
Fire Danger on High Alert
With hot winds and dry conditions, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued extreme fire danger warnings for the West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Lower Eyre Peninsula, and Mount Lofty Ranges.
If you're in these areas, stay alert—keep an eye on fire authority updates and be ready to act if needed.
What About the Rest of the Country?
It’s not just SA feeling the heat! Other southeastern cities are in for a warm week too:
Melbourne will hit 35°C today, climbing to 37°C tomorrow before a cool change Thursday night.
Hobart is also expected to reach the mid-30s on Thursday.
Western Victoria is also on high fire danger alert.
Stay Cool & Stay Safe
With extreme heat and fire risks, it’s important to take precautions. Stay hydrated, avoid being out in the sun too long, and keep up with emergency updates.
The cool change is coming—but until then, it’s going to be a scorcher!
