Storms set to drench southern Australia with widespread rain

Large parts of southern Australia are set for another round of heavy rain this week, with already saturated areas facing an increased risk of flooding.
The Bureau of Meteorology says South Australia will be among the first areas affected on Monday. Parts of the Eyre and Yorke peninsulas and the Adelaide Hills could receive 30–50mm of rain, with locally heavier falls possible.
The flood risk is expected to increase on Tuesday, particularly across north-east Victoria and southern NSW. Another 40–60mm or more could fall on already wet catchments, potentially triggering further flooding.
Rain of 10–30mm is also forecast across parts of the Murray-Darling Basin and southern South Australia.
On the east coast, showers and thunderstorms will shift towards eastern NSW and southern Queensland as the weather system moves offshore.
Western Australia could see frost in the south before showers develop along the coast. Further rain is also possible across southern coastal areas later in the week.
Forecasters say conditions will gradually change towards the end of the week, although another weather system could bring rain to Tasmania and southern Victoria on Friday.
