Martin Place Christmas tree returns
The Martin Place Christmas tree will once again be the centrepiece of Sydney’s celebrations.
The festivities will begin with Santa’s sleigh ride from Customs House to Martin Place, ahead of the official tree lighting on Thursday, 26 November. A sound and light show will run each evening until Tuesday, 5 January 2027.
Choir performances across the city
Christmas choirs will perform beneath the Martin Place tree from 6pm to 8pm daily between 1 and 21 December.
For the first time, selected choirs will also perform beside Christmas trees in inner-city neighbourhoods on Wednesday, 23 December, from 6pm to 8pm.
Christmas markets and Santa photos
Martin Place markets will open from 11am to 9.15pm on 29 and 30 November, followed by trading every Wednesday to Saturday until Christmas Eve.
Santa’s house will open nearby from Friday, 27 November, giving families, friends and pet owners the chance to take festive photographs.
The City of Sydney has named Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT as its official Christmas charity partner. The organisation supports children who are sick, living with disabilities or experiencing disadvantage.
