AusNewsLanka - News for Australians - Cold Fronts to Drench Australia Nationwide This Week
At AusNewsLanka, we aim to keep the Australian community informed with timely updates.

Get ready, Australia — it’s going to be a very soggy week, with successive cold fronts on the move, bringing rain to every state and territory.

But it's not just rain — we're talking damaging winds, thunderstorms, and even snow in some parts of the country.

According to Weatherzone, the first cold front rolled into Western Australia on Monday morning, delivering cool, wet, and windy conditions. From there, it pushed into South Australia and is now on its way to the southeast, with blustery winds and rain expected across much of the southern half of the country between Monday and Wednesday.

"Damaging winds are likely in multiple states," Weatherzone said, with severe weather warnings already issued in parts of South Australia and Victoria as of Monday morning.

The Bureau of Meteorology has also issued warnings for areas in New South Wales, Tasmania, and Victoria. The system is expected to collide with a low-pressure trough in the east, triggering rain and thunderstorms across NSW and Queensland today and into tomorrow.

But wait — there’s more.

A second cold front is set to barrel into southwest WA on Wednesday, bringing another round of wild weather. It’ll sweep across the country toward the east coast by the weekend. This one is expected to form a large low-pressure system, drawing in tropical moisture and possibly generating a massive north-west cloud band — the kind that brings widespread soaking rain.

“This setup could deliver a good drop of rain to every state and territory by the weekend,” Weatherzone said. “Most of the rain will fall on and west of the Great Dividing Range.”

In southern Australia, potentially damaging winds are again expected, and yes — even snow is possible in the alpine regions and parts of southern Western Australia.

So, whether you’re in the city, the bush, or the mountains — keep the umbrella handy, secure anything that might blow away, and stay tuned to weather updates. It's going to be a wet and wild ride through the rest of the week.
