Three Sri Lankan chefs from Melbourne shine at SICA 2025 in India

Three talented Sri Lankan students from Chef DK Academy in Melbourne have brought home multiple medals from the 7th edition of the SICA Culinary Olympiad and Exhibition 2025, held from September 19–21 at the Chennai Trade Centre, India.
The event, organized by the South India Chef’s Association (SICA) on the sidelines of the AAHAR International Food Fair 2025, showcased culinary excellence from across South India and beyond. Supported by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation (TNTPO), the Olympiad provided a global platform for young chefs to display their creativity, skills, and innovation.
Under the guidance of Coach Chef Dimuthu Kumarasinghe, Chef DK Academy students achieved outstanding results, demonstrating both talent and professionalism on the international stage:
Arinda – Gold Medal (Distinction), Gold Medal & Bronze Medal
Shanthi – Gold Medal & 2 Silver Medals
Chalima – Gold Medal & 2 Bronze Medals
The academy’s leadership emphasized that these victories come even before the students have completed their courses, highlighting the institution’s commitment to preparing students for global culinary competitions.
The SICA Culinary Olympiad and Exhibition 2025 featured some of the finest culinary creations from leading hotels and restaurants, celebrating creativity, technical skill, and teamwork. For these young Sri Lankan chefs, the event marks the beginning of an exciting professional journey on the world stage.
