More than 13,000 homes and businesses across Victoria are without power as extreme heat strains the electricity network.
Outages are concentrated across central, western and northern parts of the state. Kyneton has been hit hardest, with close to 3,000 customers affected. Power is also down in areas including Lancefield, Melton, Wallan and Beveridge.
Energy companies say heat-related safety systems are triggering more easily, which could slow repair times. Crews are working to restore supply as conditions allow, and outage information is being updated regularly.
