Jobs in artificial intelligence and technology are growing faster than any other roles in Australia, according to new research from LinkedIn.

The study tracked millions of job changes between January 2023 and July 2025. It found AI engineer was the fastest-growing role over the past year, driven by rapid uptake of generative AI across industries.

Other senior and tech-focused jobs also ranked highly. Chief risk officer placed second, reflecting rising concerns around cybersecurity and regulation. Director of artificial intelligence ranked fourth, showing demand for senior leaders to guide AI strategy at the executive level.

LinkedIn says AI skills are no longer limited to specialists. They are becoming essential across business, leadership and creative roles.

The research also shows growing interest in entrepreneurship. The role of founder climbed into the top 10 after a 58 per cent jump, highlighting strong momentum in Australia’s startup scene, particularly in AI, health tech and climate solutions.
