$1.1 Billion Data Centre Proposed for Clyde North

The City of Casey could soon welcome its first major data centre, with a $1.1 billion development proposal submitted for a site in Clyde North.
The application, lodged on 20 April, seeks approval to build a large-scale data centre facility at 585 Berwick-Cranbourne Road. The Casey Council is yet to make a final decision.
The proposed facility would be built on a 53.6-hectare site located near the intersection of Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road.
Data centres are specialised facilities that store and process digital information using large networks of computer servers. They require significant power, cooling systems and telecommunications infrastructure.
The site was purchased by Galileo Group for $130 million in 2022 and forms part of the Croskell Employment Precinct, a planned industrial and commercial area in Melbourne’s growing south-east.
The state government approved the precinct’s structure plan in March 2026, creating a pathway for future employment and industrial developments across the 317-hectare area.
The Clyde North proposal is one of the first major projects to emerge since the precinct’s approval.
The planning application has received around five objections, with council consideration still underway.
