With airports shut down in that region, players had to travel by bus to Jalandhar  and then catch a train to Delhi  — a rare and chaotic situation for an IPL match. So far, 58 matches  have been played in the 2025 season. There are 12 group games left , plus the playoffs . But with India’s five-Test series in England starting June 20 , the window to resume the IPL is extremely tight . From July 1 , student loan debts (HELP, VET, apprenticeships, etc.) will be cut by 20% The minimum repayment threshold  will rise from about $54,000 to $67,000 That’s around $16 billion wiped  from loan accounts across Australia The average student  will see about $5,520 erased  from their HECS balance Those who already repaid  their debt after the big indexation spikes in 2023 or 2024? You’ll get a refund , as long as you don’t owe anything else to the government This move builds on an earlier rollout that started back in December 2024 , when $3 billion in debt was already wiped. That first wave came after the government capped indexation  so that it could no longer rise faster than wages — a big win for students who saw their debts balloon just from inflation. Education Minister Jason Clare called this new round “the next step” , bringing the total student debt wiped to nearly $20 billion . “This is a game-changer for more than three million Australians,” he said. Across the country, that’s a whopping $5.3 billion in savings  every year. It turns out a huge 86% of us are doing it , mostly snapping up discounted items like fresh meat, seafood, poultry, bakery goods and fruit and veggies . On average, people are hunting for these markdowns about 2.5 times a month , or roughly 30 times a year . But here’s the catch — those discounts might not be as easy to find anymore . Retail expert Gary Mortimer says this trend isn’t new — shoppers have been doing it for years. But now, with supermarkets using smarter AI inventory systems , they’re getting better at ordering just enough stock so they don’t have to mark down as much. Mortimer explained that the big focus now is on reducing food waste , not just slashing prices. Some supermarkets are even donating unsold food to charities and food banks  instead of offering markdowns — which is great for the community, but it means fewer bargains on the shelves . There’s more good news (and a bit of a warning) in the study too: Australians could save an extra $1159 a year  by cutting back on those mid-week top-up shops . Mortimer says we used to do one big grocery haul a week (usually after payday), but now more people are making small, frequent trips . Why? Because a $40 shop doesn’t feel as painful as dropping $180 in one go. But if you add it all up across the week — you’re often spending just as much, if not more . And if you’re in Sydney , there are two handy apps — Too Good to Go  and Foody Bag  — that help you find discounted meals and groceries  from local cafes, shops, and restaurants. Starting May 19 , customers using the MyPost app  will be able to see photos of attempted deliveries  right in the app. So if you miss a delivery, you’ll get an image of your front door or the safe place where the parcel was left — making it easier to locate your package or understand what happened. To get the photo, though, Australia Post needs to match your parcel to your MyPost account  using either your email address or mobile number , so make sure those details are up to date. Aside from this new photo feature, everything else stays the same. Posties will still knock three times , and if the delivery can’t be completed, you’ll get a notification just like before, followed by an update when your parcel is ready for collection. Here’s how it works: A photo might be taken when your parcel is left in a safe place  to help you find it. A picture may also be snapped at your front door  if a delivery attempt was made. If there’s a hazard  at your property (like a loose step or aggressive pet), a photo might be taken to alert the delivery team for future visits. Australia Post says they’re being really careful about protecting your privacy . Delivery staff are instructed not to photograph people, cars, readable text, or anything inside your home through windows . Photos will only be taken outside , and only of the area where the parcel was dropped or delivery was attempted. All photos will be stored for 90 days , then archived and deleted after three years . Australia Post also mentioned: “To deliver parcels to you, our team needs safe, reasonable access to your property. By receiving deliveries, we infer that you’re giving permission for access and for photos to be taken if needed.” Not a fan of the new feature?
