Currently, there are 1.3 million cases of blood cancer globally, and it could affect someone close to you-your mother, father, sibling, grandparent, or another loved one.

Unfortunately, awareness about blood cancer and the life-saving treatment of Stem Cell Transplants is not widespread enough. In Australia, there is a donor registry, but health authorities have noted that there are limited South-Asian donors. This makes it especially difficult to find a stem cell match for Sri Lankan patients. Currently, two Sri Lankans urgently need a stem cell transplant.

Registering as a stem cell donor is quick and simple. It only takes a few seconds and a simple cheek swab. If you're already a blood donor, you can also register as a stem cell donor. To be eligible, you must have a valid Medicare card, be between the ages of 18 and 35, though you can donate up until the age of 60.

It's a small action that could have a huge impact. Together, we can increase awareness and make sure that patients in need of a stem cell transplant have the chance to survive..
