Australia has confirmed its 15-player squad for the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, with two young talents of Sri Lankan origin — Naden Cooray and Nitesh Samuel — selected for the tournament. Both players currently represent NSW.
The squad also includes players of Indian and Chinese heritage, highlighting the growing diversity in Australian cricket.
Australia enters the tournament as the defending champions, with Oliver Peake appointed captain. The World Cup will run from 15 January to 6 February in Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Australia’s Group:
Australia will compete in Group A alongside Ireland, Japan, and Sri Lanka. The team will arrive in Namibia in early January and play warm-up games from 9–14 January.
Coaching Staff:
Head Coach Tim Nielsen will lead the squad, supported by Luke Butterworth and Travis Dean as assistants.
Nielsen said the squad is well-balanced and selected for versatility, praising performances from the U19 series against India and the national championships in Perth.
He said the World Cup will be a valuable chance for young players to test themselves on the global stage.
Cricket Australia’s Sonya Thompson added that the team blends experience with new talent, with three newcomers adding depth and energy to the group.
