ATO Extends Credit Card Payments for Tax Bills Until June 2027

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will continue accepting credit card payments for tax obligations until June 30, 2027, following discussions with the government and the provision of transitional funding.
The extension gives individuals and businesses more time to prepare for alternative payment arrangements. The ATO said it would continue working with relevant stakeholders to identify options for taxpayers experiencing financial hardship or those unable to use other payment methods.
After June 30, 2027, taxpayers who wish to pay their tax bills by credit card may still be able to do so through third-party payment providers.
However, the ATO has urged taxpayers to check any additional fees, charges and processing times before using these services.
The tax office has also warned people to remain alert to scams and verify the legitimacy of third-party providers before sharing personal information or making payments.
Taxpayers who need assistance are encouraged to contact the ATO directly or seek advice from their registered tax professional.
