AusNewsLanka - News for Australians - Winter Chill Spreads as Weather Maps Show Frost Ahead
At AusNewsLanka, we aim to keep the Australian community informed with timely updates.

Bundle up – the cold snap across south-east Australia isn’t going anywhere just yet.

According to Weatherzone, another cold front is pushing through early this week, bringing with it rain, snow, and strong winds to parts of South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and south-east New South Wales.

Today, Adelaide and the Mount Lofty Ranges are bracing for gusts between 50 to 75 km/h, while Victoria and Tasmania could see winds ramping up to 90 km/h in some spots.

Melbourne will get a bit of a breather, with gusts expected between 60 to 75 km/h – still brisk, but not quite as wild.

The blustery conditions are expected to stick around through Tuesday, especially in alpine areas of Victoria, Tasmania and NSW, where gusts may still reach up to 85 km/h.

But it’s not just wind Aussies have to worry about – showers are forecast to sweep across most regions, with isolated thunderstorms possibly dumping 20mm to 50mm of rain in some areas.

For snow lovers, there’s good news: fresh snow is on the way. Falls of 10 to 15cm are expected in the alpine regions late Monday into Tuesday night, just in time to freshen up the ski slopes.

However, Weatherzone warns that strong winds could whip up white-out conditions and reduce visibility. So, while it may not be the best day to hit the slopes early in the week, the new snow will help build a solid base for the season ahead.

The good news? Things start to settle from mid-week, as a high-pressure ridge moves in from the west. Expect calmer winds and clearer, sunnier days from Wednesday through Saturday – perfect conditions to enjoy the fresh snow once things calm down.
