A man in his 70s has been injured after a light plane crash-landed on top of a hangar at Wedderburn Aerodrome in Sydney’s southwest.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, where they found the aircraft perched on a storage shed with its tail bent. The pilot, who suffered head injuries, was treated at the scene and is thankfully in a stable condition.
Fire and rescue crews were spotted using ladders and a cherry picker to reach the wreckage and assist the pilot.
As for how the plane ended up on the roof? That part is still a mystery.
Wedderburn Aerodrome is a small airstrip, mostly used by recreational pilots, making today’s crash all the more unusual. Investigators will now be looking into exactly what went wrong.
