Flights from Australia to Middle East scrapped amid ongoing travel chaos

Australians are among thousands of passengers stranded as airspace closures across the Middle East trigger widespread flight disruptions.
At least 1,200 flights were cancelled from Dubai International Airport today, a key hub for travellers heading between Australia and Europe. Airlines most affected include Emirates and Etihad, with schedules continuing to change.
Several flights to and from Australia have already been cancelled. Sydney and Melbourne recorded multiple disruptions, with additional services affected in Adelaide and Perth. Airlines warn more cancellations and delays are likely over the coming days.
The federal government says Australians overseas should prepare for ongoing disruption. Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed its focus is on citizen safety, noting many travellers are unable to leave due to airspace and border closures.
Official travel advice has also been updated. Smartraveller is advising Australians not to travel to most Middle Eastern destinations, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Israel, and to reconsider travel to others such as Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
The disruption follows escalating conflict in the region, which has forced multiple countries to close their skies. With major transit routes affected, travellers worldwide — including Australians — are being urged to stay alert, monitor airline updates and reconsider non-essential travel.
