The death toll from the shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach has risen to 15, with 38 people still hospitalised, according to police.
Authorities say the attack was a terrorist incident that deliberately targeted the Jewish community during a Hanukkah gathering. Among those killed was a Holocaust survivor, who died while protecting his wife.
Police have identified the suspects as a father and son. The 50-year-old father was shot dead by officers at the scene. His 24-year-old son remains in critical but stable condition. The older man was a licensed recreational hunter. A home in Sydney has since been searched as part of the investigation.
NSW Premier Chris Minns said the state is now reviewing its firearms laws, despite Australia already having some of the strictest gun regulations in the world.
Investigations are ongoing.
