Australia has secured three additional diesel shipments equal to 900,000 barrels to strengthen fuel supplies across several states.
The deliveries will support South Australia, Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria as the government works to protect fuel availability amid global uncertainty.
The shipments were arranged through partnerships involving the federal government, Export Finance Australia, and fuel suppliers Ampol, Viva and IOR.
Officials say around 600 million litres of extra diesel have now been secured since the launch of Australia’s strategic fuel reserve measures earlier this year.
The government says the move is aimed at keeping transport, businesses and regional industries running smoothly while improving the country’s readiness for future supply disruptions.
Australia currently holds fuel reserves covering 42 days of petrol, 35 days of diesel and 29 days of jet fuel.
